Looking to give back to the local community and gain vaulable work experience this Summer? We are looking for help from volunteers during the Summer Project this year from Monday 22 July to Friday 16 August (flexible on duration of volunteership). The project will run from 3:30pm to 8:30pm, five days a week.
We welcome interest particularly from young people who are looking for hands-on experience in a workplace, to develop and enhance their CV. If you are currently studying youth work and want to relate your studies to the world of work to bring the working world to life, or you would like to learn new skills and improve your employability whilst being a part of a precious community asset, then St Andrew's Club has something for you.
A young person who volunteered at the Club during the Summer Project last year shared with us the value of their experience:
"To say I absolutely loved my extraordinary 5 days’ work experience at St Andrew’s Club is a complete understatement. I learnt so much; I can make an incredible burger, show some cool karate moves and do Jenga blindfolded. I also really developed my leadership skills. As a volunteer who is looked up to as a leader, you have to take control of the present situation and I felt like this really helped me to mature. I am passionate about the Club’s objectives and morals, and truly believe in the colossal difference they are making to their community. You only have to enter the Club to realize the touching effect it has had on all people who have walked through its doors; including me."
For the last 31 years St Andrew’s Club has provided a structured, participative and fun summer activities programme, including weekly trips out to places of interest and fun for young people from ages 9 upwards. The programme for this year's Project is currently being developed, with planned activities to include baking, floristry, dance and football, as well as external trips Go-Karting, Thorpe Park and a swim in the Serpentine Lido!
